In the first half of 2012, the most outstanding achievement was shown in the music industry by Big Bang who have played an impact even with a short period of activities.

“Gaon Chart” recently has released the results of the total of physical album and online downloads, and Big Bang’s 5th mini Album “Alive”, which was released on February 29, topped the chart with 266,911 albums being sold during only the first half of the year. Ranked second and third are SHINee and Girls’ Generation-TaeTiSeo’s album sales with over 100,000 albums gap between them, showing the irrefutable prestige of “the most popular artist”.

Moreover, the special edition album that was released in early June also sold for 117,929 albums, making it ranked 6th in “The First Half of 2012 Physical Album Sales”. Summing up the sales of both album, it is almost 400,000 albums sold within first half of the year. Sold for over 100,000 copies until June 2012, which is enough to buy nine title album, this is actually showing the trend in buying CD is increasing. Despite the physical albums sales of Busker Busker on #7 (114,760 copies), both of Big Bang’s first-half-year albums are made with “special package”, which can increase the collectible of the buyers in Korea as well as the world “K-Pop mania”, seems to be the “service strategy” that are used, despite there are many released albums by other artists.

Big Bang also appears in the top 10 of “Digital Sales” chart with two songs, showing up strongly in both album and digital sales chart. Although the top spot is taken over by the new tremendous band Busker Busker’s “Cherry Blossom Ending”, there are three songs of Big Bang in the top 20. “Fantastic Baby” and “Blue” respectively ranked in the third and the fifth along with “Bad Boy” at the 18th, making “The First Half of 2012 of Music Industry is Big Bang World”.
