YG Entertainment‘s Yang Hyun Suk recently joined SBS‘s ‘Survival Audition K-Pop Star‘, a program that seeks to stand out from all other audition shows by finding and cultivating the next star, and putting them on an elite course to success. A lot of attention is now being focused on the criteria for the program. Yang Hyun Suk recently sat down with OSEN for an interview detailing what he looks for in a trainee.

Last year, YGE’s girl group 2NE1 set a new album record with their ‘Triple Crown’ win, and now Big Bang is conquering the music industry with their all-kill comeback. Yang called OSEN out of the blue and asked, “Do you know ‘C’est si Bon’?”

“The music industry has changed again. I knew it when I watched ‘C’est si Bon’. Music fans have started to want singers who sing very well.”

While gearing up for their official comeback on February 24th, YG Entertainment was revealed to be sparing no costs in promoting Big Bang’s first comeback in nearly two years.

The agency was reported to have spent a couple hundred million won alone in just the advertising and promotion for the album. They currently have two rapping buses touring Seoul, as well as over 40 ads plastered on intra-city buses. Banners alerting passerbys of the album’s drop date are also spread throughout, including a larger exterior banner put up over the Cine City in Apgujung.

[NEWS] YGE, “We do not have a bad relationship with Music Bank” (110127)

It seems fans have been unable to see YG Entertainment artists performing on KBS’s Music Bank for some time now due to the label declaring a non-attendance to the public broadcast network’s 2010 KBS Music Festival.

A representative of the music industry spoke with Star News on January 27th and revealed, “Despite GDTOP and Seungri being well into their promotion cycles, YG Entertainment artists have not once made an appearance on KBS’s Music Bank since restarting their activities.”


He continued, “GDTOP and Seungri make weekly appearances on MBC’s Music Core and SBS’s Inkigayo, and for a longer period, it seems that YG representatives won’t be sending their artists to appear on Music Bank, which goes the same for Big Bang’s comeback next month.”

TVXQ, one of the top idol groups that started the idol Hallyu wave, is now being followed by KARA, the new leaders of the Hallyu wave in Japan, and both are on the verge of disbandment. The disputes between artist and company weren't contained internally, and now they've ruptured the exportation of Korean culture.

The current Korean music industry is going all out in creating idol groups, as many are of the belief that there's nothing better than a smart little idol group in achieving jackpot success overseas. H.O.T started the boom, and were followed by the successes of both Shinhwa and TVXQ.

[NEWS] YG’s CEO finds the imitations of his voice entertaining (110112)

The voice imitation of YG Entertainment’s CEO, Yang Hyun Suk, has been a popular variety show item for YG artists such as Big Bang, Se7en, 2NE1, and Gummy.

For the first time, the CEO himself spoke up on his voice imitations with Star News on January 12th by stating, “I’ve definitely seen our artists imitate my voice on a variety of variety programs. They’ve never done it once in front of me, so seeing them do it on variety programs made me think, ‘Ah! So that’s what they do when they hang out on their own.’ But of course, I don’t feel that it’s offensive at all. It’s actually quite funny.”

YG Entertainment’s CEO, Yang Hyun Suk, recently sat down for an interview with Osen and shared his opinion on why some idol groups disband.

The CEO was asked about why groups like Big Bang and 2NE1 present sub-units; this led to a lengthy response regarding why he feels sub-unit activities should be encouraged. 2NE1 and Big Bang have both led a solo/sub-unit boom last year with their individual activities, such as CL & Minzy and GD&TOP.

YG Entertainment have decided to repeat their services of donating the love they’ve received from fans to the society. YG Entertainment developed an official campaign called ‘WITH‘ and raised a total of about $141,000 USD in 2009. This year, they’ve succeeded in surpassing their record by raising a total of $160,000 USD.

Yang Hyun Seok is 100% satisfied with GTOP Duet Performance

G-Dragon and Top of the top Korean group, Big Bang completed their colorful and addictive stage on 19th(today). Yang Hyun Seok, the YG entertainment president said, 'he was 100% satisfied' with their performance. Since it is the end of 2010, every artist try to do his/her best to the fans and such kinds of unique units seem to add more colour to the showbiz.

YG Entertainment artists will not be taking part in the KBS year-end music festival. According to music broadcast representatives on December 20th, 2NE1, Se7en, Taeyang, and Big Bang’s unit group GD&TOP, will only participate in the “SBS Gayo Daejun” and the “MBC Music Festival“, held on December 29th and 31st respectively.

Fervent fans of YG Entertainment were well- aware of the countdown clock on the YG- Life website, but what it was ticking down for no one could really say.
Well it's finally the zero hour, and YG has just announced that Big Bang would be coming back. 
Seungri would have his digital solo single release on January 3rd, 2011, and G- Dragon & T.O.P will release the title tracks 'High High' and 'Oh Yeah' on December 15th, 2010... for their upcoming album, which is set for release on December 24th! And on February 1st, 2011.
