IU’s song “Good Day” and GD&T.O.P’s song “HIGH HIGH” took first place on major music programs of KBS and SBS on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
Female songstress IU celebrated her third consecutive win on KBS' weekly music program “Music Bank” on January 7, receiving a total of two trophies though including her prize from last week since the show was replaced with a special year-end program.
“Thank you so much for all the compliments and wonderful awards during my recent activities. I especially thank all my female fans who have rooted for me aloud from their seats,” said IU in her acceptance speech, breaking into tears as she continued to express her gratitude to other acquaintances.
Friday’s show also featured performances by FIRST, Gil Hak-mi, Dr. Gimm!, Sunny Side, Tim, F.CUZ, Orange Caramel, T-ara, BEAST, as well as groups making a comeback including TVXQ, Secret, JOO, INFINITE and debuting girl groups: Dal★shabet and Piggy Dolls.
Meanwhile, male unit GD&T.O.P celebrated their win on SBS’ music program “SBS Inkigayo” with their electronic hip-hop song “HIGH HIGH” on Sunday.
“We would like to share this honor with our folks at YG Entertainment and our fans who have stood by us all along,” the boys said after receiving the top Mutizen Award.
The same song already scored its first win at music cable channel Mnet’s “M!CountDown” last Thursday but this is the first time for them to win on one of the three major public networks.
Sunday’s music program further featured top singers in the nation including Jung Jae-wook, December, F.CUZ, JJ, TVXQ, T-ara, IU, Secret, Sistar, JOO, Tim, Infinite, Sunny Side and Dal★shabet.
